The Columbia Muslim Community has had a continuing relationship with the FBI Columbia Division for several years. With the arrival of the current Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Susan Ferensic, PICNA leadership had a very productive meeting with the the SAC and resolved to enhance the relationship for mutual benefit. PICNA offered to provide Diversity Training to FBI employees in the form of a presentation entitled 'Understanding Islam and Muslims' which was held at the FBI Columbia Division Headquarters on July 14, 2022. The presentation revolves around basic Islamic concepts, beliefs and principles and also deals with Muslim demographics around the globe as well in the United States. A salient feature of the program is a high value display depicting historic Muslim contributions to world civilization. The main presentation was followed by a panel discussion and concluded with a Question/Answer session. SAC Ferensic personally participated in the program that was well attended both in person as well online. The feedback received during the Meet and Greet segment indicated that the participants found the presentation very useful, relevant and informative. PICNA looks forward to continuing to work together to enhance mutual trust and understanding in order to keep our communities safe.
