In keeping with PICNA’s ongoing mission to work towards interfaith harmony, PICNA’s President, Chaudhry Sadiq, met with Ted Pitts, Chief of Staff to South Carolina Governor, Nikki Haley on Monday, October 1, 2014. Ted Pitts has been with Governor Haley since she took office in January, 2011.
The meeting concluded with the mutual agreement to continue PICNA’s cooperation with the Office of the Governor to achieve their common goals of interfaith peace in South Carolina and the greater society of North America.

Mr. Sadiq and Mr. Pitts discussed efforts being made by interfaith leaders to create harmony, goodwill and understanding in our diverse community. Governor Haley has taken the lead in this direction by having declared for three consecutive years, January as the month of interfaith harmony. Pitts appreciated PICNA for having played an active role in bringing various communities together and organizing quality programs to achieve their goals of peace and integration.
The meeting recalled how Governor Haley had issued a special message in support of PICNA on the occasion of their prestigious event “Islam and Peace” held in 2012 in partnership with the University of South Carolina as well as a number of other interfaith organizations. The Chief of Staff also informed the PICNA President about the Governor’s internship program that provides opportunities to college students to learn more about South Carolina’s executive branch and Governor Haley’s administration.
