PICNA participated in an interfaith event held on Saturday, November 5, 2011 in Newberry, SC that proved very popular and highly successful despite minimal publicity. Organized by the Interfaith Partners of South Carolina (IPSC), the event was entitled ‘Gathering of Faiths’ wherein PICNA set up the ‘Islam’ tent village. Various faiths represented in this gathering included Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism and Islam among others. A team comprising Imam Omar Shaheed, Imam Mohammad Bashir and Syed Zain Abedin introduced Islam to the various visiting groups and answered their questions. A mini-exhibition was also organized by PICNA at the Islam village highlighting the contributions to civilization by Muslim scientists, inventors and scholars.
